Grounded in Faith: The Spiritual Bedrock of Division #4

For the Ancient Order of Hibernians, our Catholic faith is not merely a cultural accessory or a Sunday morning obligation; it is our foundation. It is the DNA of our organization.

We are fiercely proud of the faith our ancestors fought to preserve through centuries of persecution in Ireland and prejudice upon arriving in America. They clung to the Church as their refuge and their strength. Today, we honor that legacy by being unapologetically Catholic men in the modern world.

Our faith is not passive. It requires action, presence, and a commitment to supporting the institutions that nourish our spiritual lives.

A Brotherhood for the Journey

The life of faith is a journey, not a destination. It has peaks and valleys. Many Catholic men today may feel distant from the Church or struggle to find footing in their faith amid the noise of the modern world.

If that sounds like you, know this: The AOH is not a club for the perfect; it is a brotherhood for those who are striving.

We believe in "evangelization by deed." We don't lecture. Instead, we offer a place where you can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with other men who are striving to live out their values, however imperfectly. We believe that by sharing fellowship, performing acts of charity, and gathering together in prayer, we encourage each other to draw closer to the faith of our fathers.

Regardless of where you currently find yourself on your spiritual path, if you are a baptized Catholic man seeking authentic connection and a place at to the Lord's table, there is a place waiting for you among your brothers in Division #4.

Supporting Our Local Churches

We believe that strong parishes make for strong communities. The AOH is not separate from the local Church; we are an active arm of it. Our members are the congregants, ushers, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and volunteers you see every Sunday.

As a Division, we deliberately direct our resources—both financial support and "sweat equity"—to assist the parishes that our members call home. We roll up our sleeves for parish carnivals and fund raiser and respond when our pastors call for aid.

We are currently proud to support the following parishes in our area:

  • Saint Maria Goretti, Hatfield

  • Saint Stanislaus, Lansdale

  • Saint Rose, North Wales

  • Mary Mother Redeemer, North Wales

  • Corpus Christi, Lansdale

Gathering at the Altar

While we ordinarily attend Mass individually with our families, there is a profound power in gathering together as a unified brotherhood to receive the Eucharist.

Periodically throughout the year, our Division participates in a "Corporate Communion." We don our "swag" and sit together as a body within the church. This is a visible public statement of our shared commitment to Christ and to one another. It is a reminder that before we are Hibernians, we are Catholic men.

Our signature spiritual events include:

  • The Annual Communion Breakfast: We gather for Mass as a Division followed by a breakfast featuring a guest speaker. It is a highlight of our calendar, blending spiritual nourishment with fraternal fellowship.

  • St. Brigid's Mass:  Hosted by out Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians around St. Brigid's Day one of Ireland's patron saints.

  • Annual Memorial Mass:  to commemorate our brothers who have left this world and pray for those who grieve their absence.

  • Special Occasion Masses: We gather to celebrate major Irish feast days and, crucially, to honor our deceased brothers at annual memorial Masses, ensuring their memory and souls are never forgotten.

Living Our Values

Ultimately, being "Grounded in Faith" means taking the values we hear in the Gospel out into the street. It drives our charity work, it informs our advocacy for life and justice, and it guides how we treat each other as brothers.

We invite all Catholic men who seek to deepen their faith to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us.
